DocBook Schemas

“The source for documentation.”

DocBook is particularly well suited to books and papers about computer hardware and software (though it is by no means limited to these applications).

The current standard is DocBook 5.2 (6 February 2024), defined with RELAX NG and Schematron

For many years, DocBook was maintained by an OASIS Technical Committee. The Technical Committee produced several earlier Standards:

DocBook 5.1 (22 November 2016), defined with RELAX NG and Schematron

DocBook 5.0 (1 November 2009), defined with RELAX NG and Schematron. It also included a non-normative XML Schema and DTD.

DocBook 4.5 (1 October 2006), an XML and SGML vocabulary defined with a document type definition (DTD)
